The Stripdown
This is the engine before I started stripping it, only the plug cover has been removed.
Here I have removed the plugs, leads and the rocker cover. As you can see this has revealed the camshafts and the top of the chain.
Here you get a good view of the turbo. I have removed the distributor and the heatshield that prevents the distributor from melting from the heat off the turbo.
Now I have removed the elbow exhaust section from the turbo/system.
Having removed the cooling pipes, oil pipes and intake pipes from the turbo, all that was left was to undo the manifold bolts and remove the manifold and turbo unit complete.
A shot from the other side of the engine showing the inlet manifold, and turbo piping.
Air filter housing removed, showing the back of the standard intercooler.
Now the Intercooler has been removed.
View showing the inlet manifold still in place, but all turbo pipework removed.
Now you can see the inlet manifold has been removed, exposing the inlet ports and coolant channels.
